From Liverpool …
Using the A580 (the East Lancashire Road) is the easiest and probably the most direct route from Liverpool. Follow the signs for Manchester and the M6 Motorway. You will eventually come to Haydock Island, a large roundabout which intersects with Junction 23 of the M6 motorway. At this roundabout you will be travelling approximately three quarters of the way round it. Taking the left hand fork at the petrol station and through the traffic lights, you need to be in the right-hand lane to follow the road markings for the A49 South. Approaching the next set of traffic lights you will then be in the middle lane Having gone through the lights, take the left hand lane to turn left on to the A49. Continue along the A49 South (Ashton Road) until you reach a mini roundabout at The Oak Tree pub. Go straight across on to the High Street and continue along until you see St. Peter’s Church standing at the far end.
From the M6…
Leave the M6 at Junction 23 and follow the signs for A49 South. At the Oak Tree pub, go straight across the mini roundabout to enter Newton High Street. Continue along the A49 for a few hundred yards until you reach the church at the far end of the High Street.
From St. Helens…
Follow the signs to Newton le Willows on the A572 until it meets the A49 at a mini roundabout at The Oak Tree pub. Turn right at the roundabout on to Newton High Street and continue along until you reach St Peter’s Church just before the bend..
From Warrington…
The A49 from Warrington leads directly into Newton le Willows. En route you will pass St Oswald’s Church at Winwick on your right hand side and further on is Newton le Willows railway station also on the right. Continue through the traffic lights for about 100 yards and you will see St Peter’s Church on your right hand side.
